Best Places to Live in Illinois. . . If You're a Dog
Student project for Graduate Certificate in GIS

Concept
The assignment for this GIS project, called the "indexing" project, is to create a thematic map of best (or worst) places in the student's area of interest. A set of requirements will be chosen to create a set of qualifying places. Then a set of preferences will be chosen and weighted to a create a final "score"—the index. This index will be used to rank the places for classification and mapping purposes.
The concept of my project is a variation on the familiar "Best Places to Live" theme. Rather than focus on human notions of best places, my map will approach the theme from the perspective of another species: dogs. The result of this project will be a thematic map entitled, "Best Places to Live in Illinois ... if You're a Dog."
